Vaccination is the best preventive measure of death from tetanus

An extremely rare case of death from tetanus infection has occurred in New South Wales. It was the first tetanus-related death since 1993. Authorities and health experts claim vaccination is the best preventive measure.


Tetanus, is a rare preventable disease, has claimed lives in New South Wales.

A woman in her 80s was the first person to die from the disease in 30 years.

Two other cases have also been reported in the state this year, one involving a woman in her 80s and a woman in her 70s.

It was the first reported case in New South Wales since 2019.
