Labor Party wins election in NSW state, ending 12 years of opposition

The ALP Labor Party won absolute at the election this time in the state of NSW.

NSW Labor Leader Chris Minns is congratulated by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese after the state election result.

Since World War II the Labor Party has only twice managed to form government in NSW namely in 1976 under Neville Wran and in 1995 led by Bob Carr.

Labor Party Leader and Premier Elect Chris Minns said his party intended to make the best use of the Labor Party's return to government.
