The celebration ahead of the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was held at Tiger Trek at Taronga Zoo.


As has become an annual custom, ahead of the celebration to commemorate Indonesia's 77th Independence Day which falls on August 17, there have been various activities everywhere and not left behind in Sydney Ausatralia.

In his speech the Indonesian Consul General for NSW, Mr. Verdi Kurnia Buana said that the collaboration of the Indonesian Anniversary celebration at Taronga Zoo this time not only reflects on the strong people-to-people relationship between Indonesia and Australia, but also emphasizes the importance of conservation of Sumatran Tigers.

The same thing was also expressed by Taronga Zoo Executive Director, Simon Duffy in his speech.

“Since opening in 2017, Tiger Trek has been visited by at least 4.3 million visitors,” said Simon. “In celebration of Indonesia's Independence Day this time, I invite all of us to also celebrate the friendship between the people of Indonesia and Australia which is very strong,” Simon concluded in his speech.

In this special event, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) KJRI Sydney also enlivened by playing angklung musical instruments performed in the middle of Way Kambas National Park area.

DWPKJRI Sydney also performed Sajojo Dance while inviting visitors to dance together.

Inthis anniversary celebration, Taronga Zoo provides a special menu, namely Nasi Goreng Merdeka, which can be obtained at Taronga Food Market. very tasty and suitable with the tongue of Australians.

The celebration of the Indonesian Anniversary at Taronga Zoo is part of a series of activities commemorating the 77th Anniversary of RI by KJRI Sydney.

A number of competition activities have been held, including the Merdeka Cup football tournament, table tennis competition, Mobile Legends esports competition, photography competition, and national/regional song singing competition.
