A Labor policy on electric vehicles was blasted by Scott Morrison at the 2019 election - now, he's denying that support for the electric industry is a massive backflip, after announcing a new $250 million strategy to help Australians transition to electric cars.

PM Morrison denies that his policy on electric vehicles is a major setback as he previously opposed a similar policy put forward by the Labor Party.

He seems to be playing with words in giving his reasons for issuing his policies. But industry groups warn the government's policies override some important things like subsidies or tax incentives - meaning many Australians won't be able to afford electric vehicles.
