The Prime Minister has personally introduced the long-awaited religious discrimination laws to parliament ((Thu)), describing it as "sensible and balanced". But critics - including some within his own Coalition ranks - hold serious concerns that the bill might actually cause more discrimination against minority groups.
Under the bill religious schools would be allowed to preference hiring workers of the same faith.
The clause which allows schools to hire based on religion, requires those institutions to make their policies public.
