Money politics ahead of elections in Indonesia

Money politics, or vote-buying in elections in Indonesia is still plural. The reason is because candidates for Parliament, local candidates, or anyone who advances in the electoral process, more often take shortcuts in seizing support, through voter vote buying.

Giving money to voters, or commonly called money politics, is illicit and legal in Indonesia. However, lax law enforcement keeps this practice fertile.

In addition, there are also economic factors, where poor people see the money given by candidates as additional income.

Director of Democracy and Electoral Empowerment Partnership, Neni Nur Hayati will be presenting the results of his research, which makes us more familiar with the practice of money politics in Indonesia, which will face elections soon.
