Workers on short-term contracts are benefiting from new laws allowing them to transfer their long service leave entitlements between employers.
The portable long-term leave entitlement scheme is funded by company owners wherein they now have to pay a levy to ensure their workers retain their old positions if they change to another employer in the same industry.
Queensland has a similar scheme to Victoria while other states also have portable long term service programs, mostly focused on construction industry workers.
