In the 1960s, President Sukarno dreamed of developing the Ragunan Zoo in Jakarta. Sukarno's grand design was to make Ragunan Zoo the largest zoo in Southeast Asia or even if possible in the world.
To what extent has Mrs. Karno's big plan been realized? Jack West, a wildlife expert who at that time was deputy director of Ragunan Zoo, explained to SBS Indonesian what happened to the zoo. Especially after Sukarno was no longer in office.
