The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that more than half the world's population is at risk of contracting Dengue Fever.

The potentially fatal Dengue Fever virus infection is spread by mosquitoes and scientists are working to block its spread.

One of them is by spreading Wolbachia bacteria.

What is Wolbachia?

Wolbachia is a very common bacterium and occurs naturally in 50 percent of insect species, including some mosquitoes, fruit flies, moths, dragonflies, and butterflies.

Wolbachia is safe for humans and the environment. An independent risk analysis showed that the release of the Ber-Wolbachia mosquito poses no risk to humans and the environment.
