The burden of chronic disease in Australia. We are living longer but our quality of life is dropping.

According to the Global Burden of Disease Study we might be living longer but our quality of life is falling due to factors like diabetes and obesity. Yet, these conditions are largely preventable.


Living longer should be a good news story. But for many Australians those extra years come with the burden of poor health due to chronic conditions. Many people in Australia from non-English speaking backgrounds are experiencing higher rates of those chronic conditions. How can we change the trend?
