Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has unveiled a proposed mandatory code of conduct which would force Facebook and Google to pay up


Digital news aggregators Facebook and Google would be forced to pay Australian news outlets for publishing their content under proposed laws.

The draft code has been developed by Australia's consumer monitor and will apply to commercial media and not public broadcasters.
