The Morrison government is making amends for its controversial 'Robo-debt' scheme by refunding over 720 million dollars.
The now non-existent welfare scheme involved the federal government using an automated debt recovery system to compare information gathered from the tax office, with data from people reporting to Centrelink.
Where discrepancies were found, an automated letter would be sent, asking the recipient to explain or repay the money.
But in close to 400,000 cases, those discrepancies were incorrect.
