Monday 15th June is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. In Australia, an estimated 10% of senior citizens are abused.

Research by the Australian Institute of Family Studies reveals that most abuse of elderly citizens is carried out by family members, with adult children being the most likely to abuse their parents.

If you yourself or you know someone is a victim of abuse please call 1800 353 374, and even though it's a national number, it diverts the caller to the help line in their state or territory.
