At a time when journalists face many challenges to investigate and reveal the truth the Nobel Peace Prize for 2021 was awarded to journalists Maria Ressa and Dimitry Muratov. And early in October investigative journalists leaked the Pandora Papers, revealing the dirty financial secrets of world leaders and others. At a time of social media misinformation effective investigative journalism is more important than ever.


In September 2021 TEMPO magazine won an award for investigative reporting in the South East Asia ExcEl Award 2021 for revealing corruption in the management of Indonesian social aid funds.  Arif Zulkifli is the CEO if Tempo Inti Media.  He explains to Sri Dean the role of investigative journalism in a democracy.
