Seeing how dire the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic is in Indonesia, Melburnian mum Santi Yasmini Nigro is moved to do something. She raises tens of thousands of dollars in funds to help supplying the oxygen needs of the people in Indonesia.

Seeing the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Indonesia, especially during the second wave of the virus' Delta variant attack, Melburnian Santi Yasmini Nigro is moved to take part in doing something. She runs.
After doing some research and deciding which Indonesian organisation she sees as trustworthy, Santi opened an online fundraising account and started her campaign. She runs - as well as challenges others to do the same - while raising donations.
After exceeding the first target of $10,000, Santi has continued to gradually increase the target until now. She has almost succeeded in achieving the target of $25,000 since the initiative started on 16 July.

Santi chooses to help raising donations for the oxygen supply in Indonesia because she says it is an emergency item, it is very much needed for those who are exposed to the virus. She says that often people cannot have access to oxygen, even though its supply is available.
Doesn't matter where I live, I still call myself Indonesian.
Asked why she is compelled to take this initiative, the Jakarta native who has lived in Australia for more than 20 years says that she feels she is Indonesian, no matter where she lives.

Santi will conclude the fundraising on 17 August, which coincides with the anniversary of Indonesia's independence day. Regardless of the amount collected, Santi says this donation is proof that many Indonesians and Australians do care and want to help the situation in Indonesia.
