Indonesians love social media but there is concern about the impact of misinformation spread by influencers, buzzers and cyber troops. But social media is also empowering some young Indonesians.

Indonesians love social media but there is concern about the impact of misinformation spread by influencers, buzzers and cyber troops. But social media is also empowering some young Indonesians.


Dr Ika Karlina Idris is a lecturer at the Paramadina Graduate School of Communication at Paramadina University.  She explains to Sri Dean that young people using TikTok to express their local identity is valuable to social cohesion in Indonesia.
