Urgent action required, says first National Bushfire and Climate Summit

Experts are calling for urgent action on climate change and the use of Indigenous expertise to prevent catastrophic bushfires.


Former chiefs of fire and emergency forces, former defense personnel, Indigenous experts and climate scientists, have met to discuss national forest fire prevention strategies.

Speakers advocated a crackdown on climate change to prevent a recurrence of the Black Summer forest fires that destroyed Australia.

Fire chiefs need to educate firefighters to rely on the knowledge of indigenous experts in reducing the risk of forest fires.
