The government has announced a new $1.2 billion support package that will allow for hundreds of thousands of cheap airfares domestically. It's aiming to boost tourism to destinations harshly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.


Federal Tourism Minister Dan Tehan says that by taking advantage of the cheap flights people in Australia can help themselves and others.  But while top airline executives have welcomed the assistance, tourism operators, the ALP and the unions say more support is needed.
