To be successful in her/his posting, a diplomat needs to be aware of the local conditions and culture in the country where he is serving.


As a former Indonesian ambassador for the UAE, M. Wahid Supriyadi wrote in his book “Light Diplomacy and Funny: True Stories (Diplomasi Ringan dan Lucu: Kisah Nyata”, he believed that cultural diplomacy approach is more appropriate for this country. He shared with SBS Audio some examples of his experience.
