The federal government's controversial religious discrimination laws are a step closer to being passed, with debate on the revised bill to take place in the Senate this week.


Human rights lawyers have renewed their calls for the bill to be scrapped, while two parliamentary inquiries say the draft religious discrimination bill should be passed, after amendments were made to the bill.
