Would a bigger Job Seeker payment just encourage laziness?

From April 1, the federal government will increase the Job Seeker payment by $25 a week but at the same time the government will abolish the $75-a-week Coronavirus Supplement to Job Seeker. How fair are these policies on the unemployed and the tax payer?


Dr Peter McCawley is former Dean of the Asian Development Bank Institute and Visiting Fellow, Arndt-Corden Economics Division & Indonesia Project ANU College of Asia and the Pacific.
