An Italian band wins Songlines music award

Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino won the award for Best Group at the 2018 Songlines Music Awards in London. It it the first Italian band to receive it.

The "pizzica" band from Puglia, Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, won the award for Best Group at the 2018 Songlines Music Awards, the most prestigious awards in world music.

The awards ceremony took place at London's Electric Brixton concert hall. The awards are organised by the Songlines world music magazine. It is the first time in its 16-year history that the award is given to an Italian band.
