If you are a Star Wars fan chances are today you are celebrating. If you are one of the rare people not familiar with the film series which debuted in 1977, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about. It all comes from a pun: May 4 has become the unofficial Star Wars day based on the similarity of "May the fourth" with the catchphrase "May the Force be with you".

The date has been embraced by Lucasfilm and is celebrated by Star Wars fans all over the world, Australia included. Down under several thousand people even declare themselves to be Jedi on the Census, although numbers appear to be declining.

Despite the loss of several Jedis in the last Australian Census, even the capital is celebrating today!

And in case you are wondering, Star Wars fever has reached all corners of the globe, Italy included, despite the untraslatable pun...
