Roberto & Carolina on the road

Roberto Mattei tells us about his adventure aboard his vintage 1975 Fiat 500. A journey of almost 4000km to get to Uluru from Sydney with stops in Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide... and in several other locations where the car broke down.

Roberto Mattei is the owner of his beloved Fiat 500 called Carolina and when they travel around Sydney together they never fail to bring a smile and wave from people, especially children they pass and meet. Carolina is simple, small and friendly - children easily connect with her and adults become "bambini" (Italian for children) again when they meet her. With this in mind and wanting to share the infectious spirit that Caroiina evokes, Roberto has been inspired to fulfill a childhood dream of his, to visit Uluru. So, together these two passionate "OzTalians" have completed a journey which many people thought they could not do. But never underestimate the power of passion and the fact that CAROLINA DOESN'T GIVE UP!
The purpose of the adventure was also to raise money for Barnardos Australia and the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife.
