Backpackers and other visitors on working holiday visas will be able to stay in Australia longer, and work and live in a wider range of regions under a federal government plan to help farmers.

Pacific Islanders taking up seasonal work will be able to stay three months longer, the age limit for working holiday visas will be lifted to 35 years, and backpackers will be able to triple the length of their stay if they do extra agricultural work.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has told News Corp, he wants to ensure farmers are not left without workers.
