The crisis that stuck the Italian political situation during the last 90 days has turned into an unprecedented institutional clash.

Mattarella's 'no' to the appointment of Paolo Savona as Minister of Economy led the Premier appointed by 5 Star Movement and Lega, Giuseppe Conte, to resignate after only four days. Soon after, Carlo Cottarelli received the task of forming a new government by the Italian President.
