Asylum seekers "illiterate", says Peter Dutton

The Prime Minister is distancing himself from remarks made by the Immigration Minister about refugees, but has stopped short of condemning them. Commenting on Australia's refugee intake, Peter Dutton has used the word "illiterate" to describe potential future arrivals - many of whom, he claims, would be unemployed and a burden on the welfare system. But amid calls from Labor and the Greens for a stronger response, Malcolm Turnbull has suggested the comments aimed to address valid issues.
