In 2003 journalist Max Civili and photographer Elio Loccisano traveled aboard the Indian Pacific, a train that, from Sydney to Perth, crosses all of central Australia. For the first time, we share the series with our online audience.

During the journey, Max and Elio met many Italians who live and work in the Outback and other remote areas of the country. In this second episode, they meet the Italians of Broken Hill, among them Giosuè De Franceschi, born in Treviso in 1932 and owner of a building company, who's had nine children, now scattered throughout Australia. Also, renowned painter Jenny Cattonar, born in Istria. The train then takes them to Adelaide, where they meet the then-artistic director of the South Australian State Theatre, Rosalba Clemente, who studied at NIDA alongside director Baz Luhrmann and actress Cate Blanchett.
