Victoria has registered 77 new COVID-19 cases and imposed a second coronavirus lockdown of certain Melbourne suburbs.

Around three dozen suburbs in Melbourne's inner north and west have returned to lockdown conditions, after a spike in coronavirus cases in Victoria.

  • The postcodes are: 3038, 3064, 3047, 3060, 3012, 3032, 3055, 3042, 3021, and 3046.
  • Residents of suburbs covered by ten postcodes can now only leave their homes for work, to shop for food and essential supplies, to receive or provide care, or to exercise.
  • The lockdown will be in place until at least the 29th of July.

Some States have imposed restrictions on people entering from Victoria's coronavirus hotspots. Those who enter NSW could get an 11.000 thousand dollar fine or six months in jail. Most interstate visitors will be welcome in Queenslad afte 10 July, but anyone travelling from Victoria will be turned back or asked to quarantine in a hotel at their own expense.

Western Australia's Premier is standing firm in his stance on border closures. The state's borders have been shut since April with no date currently set for a re-opening. Anybody wishing to enter for work or other reasons must obtain an exemption from the police.
