For the first time an Opera has been staged in Cambodia. The special event took place on the 10th of March at the Chaktomuk Theater, in Phnon Penh with a special intercultural production of Mozart's The Magic Flute that incorporated the traditional music of the Cambodian Reamker Ramayana.
The ambitious project is the brainchild of Italian-Australian conductor, musician and early music specialist Aaron Carpenè, Italian director Stefano Vizioli and Executive Producer Robert Turnbull. Aaron Carpenè explains how the critically acclaimed production came about.
