Who is responsible for the fall of the Italian language?

‘L’italiano è meraviglioso’ ('Italian language is marvellous') is the latest book by Claudio Marazzini, Accademia della Crusca's President, and it has just been launched in Italy as an ebook. The subtitle of the book is 'How and why we have to preserve our language'. We asked the Professor 'who' is responsible for this linguistic decline and what can we do to save our language.
