On 2 June he was awarded the Knighthood of the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity.

Born in 1929 in Pedavena, in the province of Belluno, Bruno Cossalter arrived in Australia from Trieste with the ship Toscana on the 6 of January 1956 after 45 days of navigation.
