Italians overestimate immigrant population more than any other Europeans

The rise of anti-immigration rhetoric has further reinforced the perception of migrants as (many) people struggling to integrate.


Ask an average Italian what percentage of the country’s population was born abroad and the answer you’ll get — according to a research — is 26 percent. The actual number is 9.5 percent. Bologna University researcher Marco Valbruzzi reports.
