Jerusalem is perhaps the most contested city in History and since the end of the Second World War, both Israelis and Palestinians claim it as their state's capital. The new headquarters of the American embassy were opened yesterday in Jerusalem, a move praised by Israel but condemned by Palestinians who have gathered for mass protests.
