Anna-Maria Arabia was born in Australia from Italian parents. She grew up in Melbourne speaking English and a Calabrese dialect, starting to study standard Italian only at school. Thanks to years of formal study and long stays in Italy, she is now bilingual and is trying to foster and encourage a love of the language in her 4-year-old son Alessandro.
