Cardinal George Pell has returned to Rome for the first time since being acquitted of child sex abuse charges, telling waiting media it's lovely to be back.
The 79-year-old Australian flew from Sydney on Wednesday and entered a building near the Vatican on arrival where he's believed to have an apartment.

- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to Italy and the Vatican. He met with Italian PM Giuseppe Conte, but non the Pope who, according to Vatican sources, does not meet with foreign government representatives if they are involved in an election;

Cardinal Pell arrives at the Vatican days after powerful cardinal Giovanni Becciu was sacked, when Pope Francis accused him of embezzlement and nepotism.
