Australia's coronavirus death toll is over 300.
It comes after Victoria recorded 19 new COVID-19 deaths, raising the national death tally to 314.
Despite this Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Nick Coatsworth says Australia's virus mortality rate compares well to the rest of the world.
He attributes it to the country's frontline health workers.
Our intensive care units, doctors and nurses in our ICUs have always been world leading and that doesn't just apply to intensive care but it applies across the range of our healthcare system, whether we're talking about nurse practitioners or the brave doctors and nurses at the front of shop down in emergency departments in Victoria at the moment who really don't know what's coming through the door at any given time.
