Opera Australia announces the 2019 season

Opera Australia's Artistic director Lyndon Terracini has announced the exciting and glamorous 2019 season full of novelties and big stars. World leading tenor Jonas Kaufmann will be back in Australia to perform the title role in Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chénier.


Back in Sydney will also be the amazing soprano Ermonela Jaho who will be performing the title role in Donizetti's Anna Bolena. Director Davide Livermore and the creative team of Giò Forma and D-Work will transform Donizetti's work into another digital masterpiece after their formidable success with this year's Aida.

The innovative 2019 season also includes Puccini's La Boheme, Turandot and Madama Butterfly, Berg's Wozzek, Massenet's Werther, Strauss' Salome and Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. (View the full Sydney and Melbourne program by visiting OA 2019 Season)

Lyndon Terracini has also announced the Australian première of Gioachino Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims. For Il Viaggio a Reims, Opera Australia has (finally) asked Australian conductor Daniel Smith to make his long awaited Auistralian debut. World renowned Italian director Daniele Michieletto will be in charge of the production.
