In Australia the vote will have to be sent by post and it will be necessary to deliver the ballot a few days in advance of the Italian deadline.
Not only Italians residing in Australia will be able to vote, but also Italian voters who are temporarily abroad for work, study or medical treatment, for a period of at least three months, which includes the date of the popular referendum confirmation of the constitutional law on the reduction of the number of parliamentarians, as well as the family members living with them. To exercise their right to vote by correspondence, these voters must send a special modulo di opzione to the municipality of registration on the electoral lists by 19 August 2020.

Metropolitan Melbourne residents are subject to Stage 4 restrictions and must comply with a curfew between the hours of 8pm and 5am. During the curfew, people in Melbourne can only leave their house for work, and essential health, care or safety reasons.
