Should we protect Italian language teaching?

Northcote High School decided to phase out both Italian and Greek lessons, offering just French and Mandarin for new students from 2017. The move comes despite Italian and Greek being the most spoken languages in Darebin other than English. Should Italian teaching be supported, especially in areas were many Italian-speaking people live? Here is our debate.
