"Shouting won't fix it"

Migrants on Diciotti

Source: AAP, SBS

In an interview we broadcast yesterday, Lega senator Paolo Arrigoni said that "Italians are with Salvini". Arrigoni also commented on the decision by the Prosecutor of Agrigento to investigate the Interior Minister Matteo Salvini for kidnapping, illegal arrest and abuse of office in relation to the "Diciotti affair".

The Diciotti is an Italian Coast Guard ship which detained about 140 migrants in the port of Catania.

Today we ask Amnesty International Italy spokesperson, Riccardo Noury, if the Italian public opinion is really so compact in supporting the Conte government hardline on migrants and if this trend, which some observers called xenophobic, is now irreversible in Italy.
