On Sunday 24th of June, several ballots were held for local municipalities in Italy. Looking at the result in Tuscany and Emilia, a challenging verdict emerges for the center left party: Siena, Massa, Pisa or some of the famous 'red strongholds' fall. Even though the PD has held some centers in the South and in Rome, the party's debacle continues. We asked Senator Francesco Giacobbe, elected for the PD in the foreign constituency of which Australia is part, why the League has this grip in territories which were traditionally closer to the left wing.
