Planet Mars has received a lot of news coverage lately, due to its current ‘close approach’ and to a recent and exceptional discovery.


Mars is making headlines: partly because its ‘close approach’ (the point in Mars' orbit when it comes closest to Earth) happening on July 31, 2018, partly because of the recently announced discovery of a large, stable body of liquid water on the Red Planet. We spoke to Roberto Orosei, principal investigator of the Marsis radar which made the important discovery possible.
