For years Mariasole Bianco, an Italian marine biologist who has also studied in Australia, has worked to raise awareness on environmental issues related to the state of health of the oceans.
Since her return to Italy, Mariasole has raised considerably the profile of her brainchild: not-for-profit organisation, Worldrise.
Worldrise was "set up by young people for young people that develops projects for conservation and enhancement of the marine environment". Mariasole’s professional path and personal commitment recently brought her to the TED stage. TED stands for technology, entertainment and design and is an organization for the dissemination and sharing of culture that publishes online speeches and conferences by prestigious speakers with the slogan "ideas that are worth spreading".
