Melburnian Bec Howie started learning Italian only a year ago. She talks to us about her tricks to learn a new language.

The guest of our series dedicated to non-Italian Italophiles is Bec Howie: English is her first language, and after studying French she decided a year ago to tackle our language. And with impressive results!

We found out about her when she tagged SBS Italian on Instagram as part of her #languagediarychallenge, a global challenge among language learners who try to motivate themselves and each other by sharing their efforts on social media.
After learning informally Italian only for 12 months, Bec seems to have already got the hang of it! But how has she done it? In her interview with SBS Italian she explained that she tries to keep herself motivated in various ways, finding chances to practice spoken Italian with her mother-in-law, for instance, listening to Italian songs, changing her language settings to Italian on her mobile, and... listening to SBS Italian and Slow Italian, Fast Learning.

And the results speak for themselves: click on the audio at the top to listen to the interview.
