Victoria has reported 16 new COVID-19 cases, marking its sixth consecutive day of double-digit increases.

State health minister Jenny Mikakos is welcoming advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee to avoid travel to and from six hotspot areas in Melbourne.

But no stay-at-home orders have been issued to the areas, which include Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin.
