Students of Intermediate Italian B at Swinburne University have produced the Italian play L’inserzione by Natalia Ginzburg and will be performing on Monday 23 October at 4:30pm at the Basement at the Hawthorn Arts Centre in Burwood Road.
The play narrates the story of two women who become friends thanks to a newspaper advertisement for a room to let. Their friendship is rocked by the sudden appearance of the ex-husband of one of the two women.
Sabina Sestigiani has been recognised for exceptional teaching at Australia’s highest awards for university lecturers, for her contribution to student curriculum and innovative teaching methods. She introduced the reading and appreciation of a contemporary Italian play as part of the learning curriculum in 2014. After noticing improved student results, she introduced an exercise of collaborative writing and a theatrical performance as part of the course assessment.
