Chefs Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo explore Italian resourcefulness through the enterprising food skills of the Lombards. Gennaro tests if he has the ability to live by l'arte di arrangiarsi (the art of making do), and insists that he and Antonio only eat what food they can get for free. They enjoy chestnut gnocchi, bresaola, and fresh butter. The pair also learn from some of Italy's last remaining partisans just how tough life got in the mountains during the Second World War.

Full of luxurious treats, the northern Italian region of Lombardy offers rich and delicious cuisine. Chef Michael Bonacini prepares stuffed squash blossoms with a creamy filling of parmesan, anchovies, and nutmeg. To follow, he cooks up a rich risotto Milanese. A feast for your eyes and taste buds, this risotto is coloured by saffron and its floral strands release flavour and colour as it's cooked.

Using a checklist derived from Plato’s ancient writing as his guide, Zach begins an epic journey to find the lost civilisation of Atlantis and proof that it was a real empire. He begins in Greece where he dives deep into the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, looking for signs of Atlantis amongst the relics of a sunken settlement.

Boozy writer Marty (Colin Farrell) is a man in search of a screenplay. He has a catchy title but no story to go along with it. Marty has a couple of oddball buddies, Hans (Christopher Walken) and Billy (Sam Rockwell), who make a living by kidnapping rich people's dogs, then returning them and collecting the reward. However this time, the fur flies when Hans and Billy kidnap the beloved pooch of a gangster (Woody Harrelson), and Marty uses the ensuing events as fodder for his screenplay.

Silvia journeys to Ascoli Piceno and immerses herself in Italian cafe culture. Inspired by the experience, she returns to her family home in Torricella to make the perfect coffee dunking cookie - tozzetti (almond and lemon biscuits). Back on the road travelling along the Adriatic Coastline Silvia visits the bustling seaside town, San Benedetto del Tronto, and turns some of Italy’s finest seafood into unforgettable finger food. Heading back through Central Italy’s interior a wrong turn results in the most spectacular surprise when Silvia stumbles across a local speciality, agnello rosolato con patate (slow braised lamb with potatoes). Then back in Torricella, the local ‘Butcher Girls’ prepare the makings of Silvia’s magnificent cavatelli alla molisana (home-made pasta with meat ragout).
