"Roma" by Alfonso Cuaron has won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.

The Volpi Cup for the best male interpretation has been awarded to Willem Dafoe for 'At Eternity's Gate', in which he plays the role of painter Vincent Van Gogh. Olivia Colman, Queen Anne in "The Favourite", got the nod for best female interpretation.
Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos won the Grand Jury Prize, while the Silver Lion for Best Director was awarded to Frenchman Jacques Audiard for "The sisters brothers".
Italians Luca Guadagnino, Mauro Martone and Roberto Minervini, however, went home empy-handed. The only woman director in competition, Australian Jennifer Kent, took the special jury prize for "The Nightingale", and young emerging Aboriginal actor Baykali Ganambarr won the "Marcello Mastroianni" prize. Kent said that she wished that in the next edition of the Festival there will be more women directors.
We analysed the result with our correspondent in Venice, Sandra Bordigoni, asking her first if the Mexican director deserved his award.
