A sombre independence day marked by Ukrainians in Australia

Across Australia, members of the Ukrainian community have come together for a sombre celebration of the 31st anniversary of the country's independence.

It comes six months after Russia invaded the country.

And there are calls from Ukraine's ambassador to Australia for more assistance to be provided to the besieged nation.
